What does The NW Network do?

Founded in 1987 by lesbian survivors of battering, the NW Network works to end abuse in our diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities. As an organization founded by and for LGBT survivors, were deeply committed to fostering the empowerment of all survivors of abuse. The NW Network increases our communities ability to support the self-det... ermination and safety of bisexual, transgender, lesbian and gay survivors of abuse through education, organizing and advocacy. We work within a broad liberation movement dedicated to social and economic justice, equality and respect for all people and the creation of loving, inclusive and accountable communities. We help individuals and communities build loving and equitable relationships. Our services are survivor-centric. We work with LGBTQ survivors to strengthen their own social networks and actively resist abuse. Our roots are in the community. LGBTQ peoples intimate relationships and experiences of victimization have been dismissed as marginal, unnatural or insignificant. As one of only a handful of LGBTQ-specific domestic violence agencies in the United States, we bring the experiences of LGBTQ people to the forefront of our work. Were keyed into the complexities and full diversity of LGBT people. Regardless of your gender, identity, race, religion, cultural background or kink, were available for you. Our direct services are all free and confidential. We also offer resources for organizations and providers working in the field.Read More
