Bar Keepers Friend Employee Directory

Bar Keepers Friend is a family-owned manufacturer of premium household cleaning products headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, where it has been produced since 1882. The company was founded by chemist George William Hoffman, who discovered that oxalic acid found naturally in rhubarb could effectively remove tarnish and stains. He formulated a tal... cum-smooth cleaning powder and sold it to Indianapolis taverns for use as a brass rail polish, earning the product its name Bar Keepers Friend. The brand was acquired in 1956 by business and civic leader Beurt SerVaas and has remained under SerVaas family stewardship, with Paul SerVaas serving as president since 2007. Bar Keepers Friend is manufactured by SerVaas Laboratories at a facility located at 5240 Walt Place in Indianapolis, capable of producing 24 million cans annually. The company offers a comprehensive line of cleaning products including its original oxalic acid-based powder cleanser, along with liquid, cream, and spray formulations designed to tackle rust, mineral deposits, lime stains, tarnish, and baked-on food without chlorine bleach. These versatile, industrial-strength cleaners work effectively on stainless steel, porcelain, ceramic, cookware, shower glass, grills, and numerous other hard surfaces. Bar Keepers Friend products are distributed at retailers across the United States and internationally, with the brand marketed as BKF in global markets. The company develops, produces, and packages all products in-house to ensure consistency and quality, maintaining the same non-bleach formula that has been trusted for over 140 years.Read More
