The name Huck in Hucks Tree Service was adopted by the company in remembrance of the owners favorite fox hound that he had raised from a pup. In 1988 while attending college in Lynchburg, the owner, Matt Kuhn, was deployed to 29 Palms Marine Corps Base for Marine communication school. Shortly before boarding a plane to return home to Lynchburg, Matt received news that Huck had been tragically struck by a car and had to be put down. Ever since that time Matt and his wife, Michelle, have paid tribute to the memory of Matts favorite dog by gracing their cars with license plates bearing the names Old-Huck and Lady Huck. "No man can be condemned for owning a dog. As long as he has a dog, he has a friend; and the poorer he gets, the better friend he has."
