Freedom Cycles started when the company's enthusiastic owner, Mike Stanfield, starting selling Husqvarna motorcycles out of his garage. The first dealership opened it's doors back in 1976 in Warrensburg, Missouri- the year of the bicentennial- sporting the name Freedom Cycles. Freedom Cycles remained in Warrensburg until opening a store in Grandview, Missouri in 1981. To celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary, Mike and his wife Jenni built a 30,000 square foot building which is still the current location of Freedom Cycles in 1995. In 2010, Freedom Cycles expanded to their existing building with a new 45,000 square foot showroom! Perfectly appropriate for their 45th wedding anniversary! Freedom Cycles was deeply saddened by the passing of the company's beloved founder Michael Stanfield in March 2014.
