We believe in music education as a vital part of social, academic and emotional growth. Academic: It is proven that music education enhances academic performance. Statistics show that students who study music score higher on the SAT than students with no experience in the arts (Profiles of SAT and Achievement Test Takers, The College Board, 1977). The study of music enhances academic skills as it contributes to the development of cognitive thinking. Social: Choir is a group to belong to and a way to invest yourself in people. In choir, you can be yourself without any fear of being judged. Choir provides a number of social opportunities and is a great place to hang out. Emotional: Students need to develop their ability to express in some way, through some form of art. Music is innate, and students can benefit from finding that part of themselves for a lifetime.
