What is Vashon Wilderness Program?
The Vashon Wilderness Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering nature connection for youth, families, and adults. Originating from a desire to sustain nature-based learning experiences on Vashon Island, the program officially formed in 2007. It partners with organizations like the Vashon Learning Community and utilizes Camp Sealth for its programs. The organization emphasizes creating sustainability in perpetuity, with a majority of its staff now based on Vashon Island. Since its inception, Vashon Wilderness Program has connected over 800 youth with nature through its diverse offerings, including weekly and monthly programs, family and adult programming, and seasonal celebrations.
