What is Solid Ground?
Solid Ground, originally founded as The Fremont Public Association in 1974, emerged from the direct involvement and activism within Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. Initially focused on an emergency food bank, clothing bank, and employment program, the organization has evolved into one of King County's largest multi-service agencies. Its mission remains steadfast: to develop and provide creative, comprehensive, and effective responses to community needs, promote dignity through quality human services, advocate for equal opportunities and resources, and support like-minded initiatives. Each year, Solid Ground provides essential services like shelter, food, and counseling to over 25,000 individuals facing homelessness, hunger, the care needs of seniors, and the struggles of low-wage working families.
