What is DAWN?
DAWN is a decentralized wireless broadband network developed by Andrena, designed to transform Internet service delivery. The platform empowers users to share Internet capacity and become their own Internet service providers by combining protocol and hardware. Built on Solana as a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN), DAWN utilizes Point-to-MultiPoint wireless technology to enable multi-gigabit speeds comparable to fiber, effectively turning participating households into mini data centers and integral parts of the global Internet infrastructure. The protocol addresses the hyper-consolidation of Internet infrastructure by distributing power and wealth from massive central data centers to thousands of small household nodes. Users can host nodes, validate the network through proof of bandwidth and proof of coverage, and earn rewards. The platform launched its DAWN Validator Extension in August 2024, allowing active network participation through a Chrome extension.
