What is Casa Q?
Casa Q is dedicated to providing safe living options and comprehensive services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, as well as allies, who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. National studies indicate that LGBTQ youth constitute a disproportionately high percentage, estimated between 20% and 40%, of the overall homeless youth population, largely due to family rejection. These young individuals face heightened risks, including sexual victimization, higher rates of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, substance use, and domestic abuse. Casa Q specifically serves the greater Albuquerque metro area and New Mexico, offering a vital support system to combat these challenges.

This strategic investment will likely fuel initiatives aimed at increasing shelter capacity, expanding outreach programs, and strengthening mental health and support services for vulnerable LGBTQ+ youth. The organization's focus on addressing the root causes of homelessness, such as family rejection, and providing a safe haven will be central to its growth trajectory.
