The STEM to STEAM movement has been taking root over the past several years and is surging forward as a positive mode of action to truly meet the needs of a 21st century economy. STEM alone misses several key components that many employers, educators, and parents have voiced as critical for our children to thrive in the present and rapidly approach... ing future. STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century! As a 13-year-old CEO of Azariahs Innocence, LLC, Zandra A. Cunningham received the Day of The Girls Buffalo Proclamation from The Mayor of Buffalo, NY, Mayor Byron Brown in 2013. That proclamation set the stage for what The Zandra TLC Foundation is today. Established in 2016, The Zandra TLC Foundation is a 501(c)3 created to educate and empower girls and women across the globe. With an emphasis on underserved communities, we want girls ages 6-19 to see beyond their current situations and to expose them to new possibilities in career choice, health, wellness, S.T.E.A.M., and entrepreneurship. We know that girls have the power to change their families, communities and impact the world. The Zandra TLC Foundation creates quality programming that helps create social and economic change through education and entrepreneurship.
