Who is World Laparoscopy Hospital
World Laparoscopy Hospital is already a well-known institute on laparoscopic surgery but in the field of robotic surgery their initiative to train surgeons and gynaecologists is first of its kind in Asia. The objectives of this robotic surgery fellowship program offered by WLH is to introduce urologists, surgeons and gynaecologist to robot-assisted surgery. The education will focus on: safely learning the basics of robot-assisted surgery by training on the real da Vinci robot not on simulator with a training curriculum and completing 16 hours of console time; transitioning the skills acquired with the da Vinci Surgical System (DVSS); observing the surgical support team to learn about OR setup, instrumentation, and troubleshooting techniques. The trainee will also get hands on experience with conventional laparoscopic training. The remaining period of the Mini-fellowship will be spent observing cases, such as bariatric surgery, hernia surgery, hysterectomy, prostatectomy, cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion, nephrectomy, and partial nephrectomy.Read more
