About Women's Prison Association
Founded in 1845, the Women's Prison Association (WPA) is the nation's first organization dedicated to serving women and gender-diverse individuals impacted by incarceration and injustice. Based in New York City, WPA provides essential services and advocacy to help justice-impacted women and their families remain in their communities, heal, and thrive. The organization employs a gender-responsive, trauma-informed model of support, focusing on community-based programs, alternatives to incarceration, and safe housing.
