Wimdu

Wimdu was founded in March 2011 Arne Blackwenn and Hinrich Dreiling, two close friends who had successfully founded two companies together before establishing Wimdu. Having become increasingly dissatisfied with expensive, anonymous hotels, the pair decided to create Wimdu, a company which would combine technical know-how, a passion for travel and a... closer attention to the individual needs of users. By June 2011, Wimdu had already become the world's second largest community marketplace for private spaces. By 2012, things really started kicking off and an expanded workforce welcomed the first of several supply initiatives. This continued to 2013 which marked Wimdu's first big supply integration. However, the most exciting achievement of 2013 was the launch of our first TV marketing campaign in Germany. Towards the end of 2014, Bleckwenn and Dreiling decided to step down as the CEO's of Wimdu to join the Board of Directors. Arne Kahlke and Soren Kress, and CEO duties were voluntarily handed over at the beginning of 2015. During this time, Wimdu also made some structural changes which saw a new office in Berlin, and the movement of the Customer Support Team to Lisbon. TV marketing also expanded this year, with our advert now shown in Spain and Italy as well as Germany. 2016 was a time of change for Wimdu and by the end of the year we found ourselves happily part of Novasol and Wyndham Vacation Rentals, the world's leading provider of holiday homes. What does the future hold? We've already attracted over 2.5 million users who have enjoyed more than 10 million nights with Wimdu - and we won't stop there. We believe in the potential of the sharing economy. As we progress, we will continue to grow our number of apartments and also plan to offer additional services, always with the end goal of making travelling more accessible to everyone.
