Joe began his law career at Hall, Estill in Tulsa, where he benefited from the mentoring of one of the finest groups of lawyers in the Midcontinent. Hall, Estill's largest client, The Williams Companies, brought him into its expanding legal department in 1987, and he served with Williams and a spun-off subsidiary for seventeen years. In the mid 199... 0s, the Williams managing attorneys rated Joe the top non-managing attorney out of over fifty in the department. After a few years in private practice, another client hired him into its legal department and he was an Associate General Counsel with ONEOK, also in Tulsa, until retiring in 2013 to return to his hometown of Springfield, Missouri.
