William Hulmes Grammar School

William Hulme's is the first HMC school to announce an interest in becoming an Academy for pupils aged 3 - 18. The Government is hoping that such schools will act as centres of excellence leading the way in teaching and learning in the maintained sector. Headmaster, Steve Patriarca said, "Capital funding from the Government and from the voluntary s... ector will allow us to expand to our full capacity whilst retaining our ethos, our small class sizes and our highly qualified staff of specialist teachers. We will further improve our already excellent facilities and we can free our parents of the burden of school fees. We can also offer the William Hulme's education to more pupils." "An expanded sixth form offering an academic grammar school education will see our results improve and our target for the sixth form is to move from the third and fourth division to the first division over five years. At GCSE where pupils will be mixed ability our target is 100% of pupils achieving a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A-C, with a significant proportion achieving much more.
