Wilfred Scruton Ltd is a long-established and family-run agricultural machinery dealership. he business began in 1896 as a foundry, casting plough shares and fabricating horse ploughs etc. incorporating a joiner's workshop repairing cart wheels, sheep troughs and tumbrils. Of course, this was all back when farmers bought locally-manufactured implem... ents from their local blacksmith. s the industry had evolved, so has the company; with our customers reading articles and visiting events worldwide to find the most appropriate machinery for their budget and requirements, the company has gradually grown into a dealership with local and international suppliers. Our expansion began when we became a sub-dealer for Massey Ferguson, Fordson tractors and Massey Harris combines.Later, we became dealers for International Harvester - eventually becoming Case IH - selling tractors, combines and sprayers. e were then retailers for McCormick tractors until we gained the franchise for Valtra; a high quality Finnish tractor brand under the ownership of the AGCO Corporation. long with the Valtra tractors, we now retail Fendt tractors and Challenger tractors and chemical applicators (again, both brands are part of the AGCO group). Since December 2000, we have been dealers for British manufacturer J C Bamford Excavators Ltd (JCB) selling Agricultural machinery including Telescopic Handlers, Fastrac Tractors, Wheeled Loaders, Utility Vehicles and more. n 2013 we reached the milestone of having sold 1000 JCB machines! We consider this a great achievement and thank all of our JCB customers for their support. In 2002 we opened our second depot at Riccall, between York and Selby. his venture has gone from strength to strength, with a strong team of staff and loyal customers all the way from Harrogate down to Doncaster and across to Leeds.
