The Compounding Process is very important to the plastics industry. For plastics producers, it is usually the last operation before packaging and shipping to the processors who form the parts that the consumer sees/uses. Compounding is sometimes combined with the final forming process. Let Bob Wildi work with your compounding teams and operations t... o improve and/or develop new processes. His broad experience includes all major classes of equipment used in the Compounding Industry. Contributions can range from working with your project management team; to screw design improvements; to participating in trials; to trouble shooting processes on line. The presentations described below are available and can be coupled for a full day compounding training program at your site. Others can be put together as needed. This 2 hr presentation or 4 hr training session is based on Chapter 4 of the Hanser book "Understanding Compounding" by Wildi and Maier. The six most common Compounding Unit Operations are discussed: Solids Conveying; Melting; Mixing; Reactions; Venting; and Pressure Generation. Topics for each Unit Operation include: What It Is; How It Is Done; and Controlling Mechanisms. The presentation focuses specifically on these Operations in Co-Rotating, Fully Intermeshing TSE Compounding Processes.
