Wigwam schools purpose is to foster a generation of thoughtful and balanced young citizens of the earth. We strive to maintain each childs connection to the planet by encouraging a state of harmony with nature, self, othe... rs, and spirit. The gift and work of children in society is to be the imaginers of a better world. Thus, the role of the educators at Wigwam is to provide the children with the tools and knowledge they need to give care to plants, animals, themselves, and each other, and also the tools to bring life to the things they imagine. Our days are filled with learning games, art projects, theatre, storytime, music, outdoor explorations, empowerment, reflection, free play, farming, and thoughtful meals. The Wigwam way is to create an "environ-meant" of eco-consciousness, kindness, and community, and keep the children safe and having fun, so that they have the freedom to become. We hope that through the blossoming of meaningful relationships with all entities, our students will access the long memory of symbiosis on this planet and live a life of authenticity while contributing to the health of our society. Kristen is a natural and gifted preschool teacher. She is endlessly patient and nurturing, and her innate creativity influences everything she does. She is funny and lighthearted and playful which the kids connect to and also has appropriate boundaries and a strong, loving communication style that guides the children while supporting them.
