White Lamb Finlay

White Lamb Finlay was formed in 1936 by the merger of James F White and Co. Inc, and Lamb, Finlay and Co., both merchant houses founded in New York City by Scottish entrepreneurs in the 1850's. White Lamb Finlay Ltd began as a partnership between the U.S. based WLF Inc, and Alfred Mettler, a Canadian citizen of Swiss origin, with the purpose of dev... eloping a Canadian carpet backing market. In 1969 Mr. Mettler became sole owner of the firm, which by then had become the leading supplier of jute backings, carpet wrap, and machine parts in Canada. In 2003 Mr. Mettler sold the business to Daniel Gamper. Also of Swiss origin, Mr. Gamper had been an employee of White Lamb Finlay since his emigration to Canada in 1970. Still owned by Daniel Gamper, the company is now operating as White Lamb Finlay Inc., with the same successful formula of excellent service and quality products.
