The hiring of Mrs. Nicole Newman follows an executive search by the District that included inputs from all community stakeholder groups. The Board reviewed applications, supporting documentation, and conducted extensive interviews, background and reference checks during the hiring process. When asked about her initial thoughts on being selected Mrs. Newman stated, I am personally and professionally ready to move to the next level of educational leadership and would not accept an opportunity to serve as superintendent unless I am able to be close to kids. Students are a daily priority in my life. Wheatland Union High School District meets that important criteria. I will give the students and staff, the school, and our communities, 100% of my dedication and effort. It is truly an honor to be selected as the next leader of this district. Mrs. Nicole Newman currently serves as Principal for Pierce High School located in Arbuckle, California. Prior to that she was the Principal for Orland High School in Orland, California. Her resume includes service as a college instructor, Principal in a K-12 school, Vice Principal in a Middle School, and a Business and Marketing Teacher. Mrs. Newman earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Marketing Education, and Masters Degrees in both School Administration and Instructional Technology from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She and her husband Dwayne reside in Colusa, California, and have three boys ages 21, 18, and 11.Read More
