Westerly Marine is a custom builder of high performance, advanced composite, racing and cruising boats. Meticulous attention to detail in all areas of construction and dedication to making every boat strong, light and of the highest quality assures total satisfaction for our customers. Founded in 1970 by owners Lynn Bowser and Steve Lee, Westerly's... yard and efficient production facility is located on a two-acre industrial site in Santa Ana, California. All work is completed in-house by their highly skilled workforce including experienced laminators, marine carpenters, mechanics, electricians and metal fabricators. Composite lamination, finish woodwork and onboard system installations are all executed to world-class standards. Westerly is part of a select group of boat builders worldwide who have the experience and capability to build complete, prepreg, oven-cured boats. Each hull, deck and structural component is laminated by hand using either pre-preg or wet-preg epoxy resin, roller impregnators and employing vacuum bag techniques. Reinforcements of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and E-glass are used with choice of foam, balsa or honeycomb cores. State of the art, computer controlled ovens are utilized whether curing an ocean racer, an America's Cup boat or a performance cruiser. CNC routers and lasers are employed for precision and accuracy during the initial set- up and throughout construction of each boat. Westerly Marine specializes in the 40 to 100 foot size range where many successful boats have been produced. Focusing primarily on sail but being diversified we have also built numerous power and commercial boats. Sailboat racing credits include first place at international regattas including: Antigua Race Week, Newport- Bermuda, Key West, SORC, Chicago- Mac, Big Boat Series, MEXORC, Transpac, Kenwood Cup and Sydney-Hobart.
