West Somerset Morris

is an active Morris side covering dance venues as far as Lynton to the West and Bridgewater to the East. They were formed originally in 1965 as a men only side and after four years hard work achieved a high standard of dance which led them to being accepted into a Morris governing body known as the Morris Ring. In 2015 the West Somerset Morris Men... began the transition to becoming the West Somerset Morris when they decided to use their experience and influence in the area to start a mixed border side to help promote folk dance and specifically morris in the local area. The project was a great success and the 'West Somerset Border Morris' was formed. From 2018 the West Somerset Morris Men and the West Somerset Border Morris became the West Somerset Morris (WSM) and are now a mixed adult side dancing Cotswold and traditional Border Morris. We practice during the winter at West Quantoxhead Village Hall and during the summer at various locations around West Somerset, all on Thursday evenings.
