West Hill School

West Hill School is a special school for children with Learning and Additional Needs. It has a long history of being a highly successful secondary special school and is now in the process of becoming a primary special school. We are delighted that by 2020, West Hill will have 112 places (16 children and 2 classes per year group) plus 7 full time eq... uivalent assessment nursery places for children with Learning and Additional Needs. Additional needs may include speech and language difficulties, autism, physical difficulties and/or medical needs. Our vision is for every child at West Hill to achieve as much as they possibly can and we will do everything possible to ensure that every child receives the best teaching, learning opportunities, curriculum, excellent staff/child/parent relationships and additional support to make this happen. We take responsibility for nurturing and developing the personal qualities of every child and will emphasise the importance of exemplary behaviour and help children learn how to show it. We provide our staff with the tools and support to instil a strong learning culture in their classrooms. Teaching at West Hill is excellent. Our team of dedicated staff is committed to all our children's success. We believe that children whose parents are involved in their learning do better than if they are not. We involve parents in their children's learning and encourage them to be active members of the school community.
