Washington Area Informix User Group

The Washington Area Informix User Group (WAIUG) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving users of IBM Informix database software and tools across the Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland regions, with membership extending throughout the United States. Founded in May 1991 by nineteen professionals from various companies and federal age... ncies, WAIUG was established to facilitate information sharing, product education, technical problem-solving, and networking among Informix users and database professionals. The organization operates through a volunteer board of directors and has grown its mailing list to over 1,200 members since publishing its first newsletter in June 1991. WAIUG delivers value to its community through multiple channels, including regular meetings held at rotating locations across the District, Maryland, and Virginia that run from 9 a.m. to noon and feature guest speakers addressing topics relevant to Informix programmers, system designers, and database administrators. The organization maintains an active web presence and publishes a regular newsletter to keep members informed of developments and opportunities. A cornerstone of WAIUG's programming is its annual one-day Technical Forums, which have been held consistently since 1993 and regularly attract over 200 participants seeking practical education and vendor engagement. These forums are widely recognized by members as the most anticipated and practical user group event of the year, offering technical sessions on advanced topics such as INFORMIX-4GL optimization and INFORMIX-OnLine DSA, complemented by exhibits showcasing new products and industry developments.
