War Bonnet Round Up

The War Bonnet Round Up is Idahos Oldest Rodeo. Held every year the first weekend in August, Idahos Oldest Rodeo is a PRCA sanctioned event and we aim to bring best rodeo contract personnel, talent, and stock to compete in our family-friendly atmosphere. Plan on our 109th Celebration on July 30, to August 1, 2020. Each night of the rodeo gates will... open at 5:00 pm with pre-rodeo events at 7:00 pm and the main PRCA rodeo to follow at 8:00 pm. Come early to get the best seats, enjoy the food, as well as the vendors at the Bank of Idaho Arena at Sandy Downs. The Bank of Idaho Arena at Sandy Downs is located at 1860 E. 65th S. Idaho Falls, ID 83402. From I-15 take Exit 113 and turn East. Go 6 miles and rodeo grounds will be on your right. The War Bonnet Round Up is Idahos Oldest Rodeo. Today, more than 450 cowboys and cowgirls compete each summer in front of more than 15,000 rodeo enthusiasts. The Round Up was originally started in 1911 by a group of local businessman and then was later taken over by the Chamber of Commerce. Eventually, the American Legion Department of Idaho Post 56 nonprofit veterans organization took over the reins. Over the years, the rodeo has been held at various locations including Tautphaus Park and is now held at Sandy Downs Arena, a city-owned facility. The Legion grew the widely popular event into the show it is today and for that we are forever grateful. This year marks another year the City of Idaho Falls and the Parks and Recreation Department has run this historic rodeo, and we are honored to welcome back the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Fort Hall.
