VOLA have managed NLDC projects in Sefton since 2013. Our delivery has been hugely successful. Over the four years we have involved over 850 learners in informal learning. The VOLA member organisations who deliver the learning have developed a strong record of engaging learners who live in deprived areas of Sefton, and have supported a very high pr... oportion of learners with disabilities, and adults who haven't engaged in learning since leaving school. These learners have been engaged in good quality informal learning - overall 89% have achieved their learning goals and for many this is a step to further learning. In the first 4 years of managing this fund, projects have been delivered by 20 different VOLA members who are either based in Sefton, or have a track record of delivery there. For NLDC Sefton CVS is our lead and is contracted by Sefton Council's Community Learning Service, who receive the funding from SFA. SFA guidance explains the aim of this funding: Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) is designed to support local organisations in the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), and other third-sector organisations, to develop their capacity to deliver learning opportunities for the residents of disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
