Village Kitchen

We are proud of our great team - many have been with us for 20 years or more. All of our waitstaff are certified in CPR as well as operating our in-house defibrillator. All of our cooks are "Serv Safe" certified. Serv Safe is a lengthy and difficult course involving testing on delivery, storage, prep and serving. We are proud of our clean kitchen a... nd always get top grades from State Health Inspections. The original Village Kitchen Restaurant was built in February 1985 in what was the old "Bud's Pub" location. Bob and Sammie (see picture above) demolished the old beer garden and used the barn board for the interior walls. The kitchen was very tiny and the dining room was heated with a wood stove. It soon became a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. The concept of home cooking is not new, but Bob and Sammie didn't want to use frozen or prepared entrees and relied instead on recipies from their mom's, grandmothers and several local ladies that worked for them at Longwood Farms Restaurant back in the 70's. Some of these recipes called for "butter the size of an egg" or a pinch of some ingredient and some went back 200 years.
