Home banner to one of the most legendary names in Indian cinema, Vijayta Films, named after his daughter, was established by actor Dharmendra in 1983 to provide a launch pad for son Sunny Deol. While Sunny himself debuted in the banner's first film, the blockbuster 'Betaab', Vijayta Films has since continued with a storied tradition of introducing... great new talent to the industry. When the younger Deol, Bobby, was getting set to step into filmdom, Vijayta Films was at hand to launch him with another hit, 1995's 'Barsaat'. Names like Amrita Singh, Twinkle Khanna, Rajkumar Santoshi, Rahul Rawail, Imtiaz Ali and others have also found their first fortunes at Vijayta Films, as did another Deol; cousin Abhay Deol in 2005's 'Socha Na Tha'. While the discovery of new talent happened inadvertently, Sunny Deol, who looks after the operations of Vijayta Films today, says that the focus of the banner has always been sharply on delivering quality cinematic entertainment to its audiences. Thus, Vijayta Films has been responsible for some of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, even as it has consistently been a trend-setter with its releases. After 'Betaab' introduced Hindi cinema to the concept of a romantic film with action-oriented overtones, Vijayta Films' second production, 1990's 'Ghayal', starring Sunny again, redefined the idea of hard-hitting action for Indian cinegoers. Since then, with films like 'Barsaat', 'Dillagi', '23rd March 1931: Shaheed', 'Indian', 'Socha Na Tha' and more, Vijayta Films has continued to innovate, both, in its choice of subjects, as well as in its production and promotional values. Now, the illustrious banner is all set to roll again.
