ViewPoint is a privately held Nova Scotia company owned by the management team and key employees. Where is ViewPoint located? ViewPoint's main office is located at 600-1550 Bedford Hwy, Bedford, NS. We have retail offices across the province including Sydney, Antigonish, Elmsdale, Lunenburg, Shelburne and Barrington. Who built the website? The webs... ite is developed and maintained by a brilliant team of engineers who work from our Bedford office. This loyal team has been with us since the beginning. How does ViewPoint generate revenue? Our primary source of revenue is derived from the real estate, mortgage and insurance brokerage services we offer to consumers. The website is a free service to consumers and a powerful marketing vehicle which generates customers for our brokerage services. A small amount of revenue is derived from advertising. Are there sites like ViewPoint for other provinces? Unfortunately, no. ViewPoint is unique in Canada because Nova Scotia is the only province where both the real estate board and provincial government make listing and property data available. ViewPoint is popular and valuable because it provides access to so much relevant information. Does ViewPoint plan on expanding to other provinces? We would like to expand but can only do so if/when listing and property data are available for other provinces. Listing data (which comes from MLS®) is controlled by some 60 real estate boards across the country. Boards outside Nova Scotia have refused to provide their members with access to all MLS® data. This refusal led the Competition Bureau of Canada to initiate legal action against the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) in 2011. The Competition Bureau alleged that TREB's refusal violated Section 79 (Abuse of Dominance provision) of the Competition Act.
