Teignmouth has a population of around 15,000 people, it's a bustling seaside town and fishing port situated on the north bank of the mouth of the River Teign - about 12 miles south of Exeter. The first record of Teignmouth was in 1044, though there are records of settlements as early as 683 in Saxon England. It is thought that there used to be two villages, East and West Teignmouth, separated by a stream. It is thought that Teignmouth was the last place in England to be invaded by a foreign power, back in 1690, and the town has a rich history.
