Vicksmetal Company (VMC) is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation of Americas. VMC began planning for production of finished cores for the transformer industry, and invested for and installed the equipment to set up core making operations at a 50,000 square feet plant with expansion possibilities in the Port of Vicksburg, Mississippi. In September,... 2009, VMC began producing cores for various transformer and voltage regulator manufacturers. We use the most modern equipment, consisting of 4 Unicore 4000 machines and 3 batch annealing furnaces. Our Unicore machines were custom-built to our specifications and can produce wound cores up to 12 inches wide. Watt Loss testing is 100% on all shell form and core form items produced, and we are able to provide loss curves and saturation curves from zero through 18 kilo-Gauss for all cores produced. We produce to the customers' drawings and specifications, and are now an approved supplier for major transformer manufacturers. VMC owns its affiliate "Vicksmetal/Armco Associates" (VAA) in the same industrial park of Vicksburg, which is a steel service center specialized for electrical steel and can satisfy the delivery of slit material requirements on JIT basis. The formation of VMC and VAA can function as Supply Chain Management (SCM) of processes from the upstream through the downstream, and provide customers with the single billing covering all costs of materials, slit processing and core making, also including the transportations in delivered basis if required.Read More
