Vet Voice Foundation

Founded in 2009, the mission of Vet Voice Foundation is to mobilize veterans to become leaders in our nation's democracy through participation in the civic and democratic process. VVF seeks to harness the energy and drive of the dedicated men and women who have fought for their country, and put it to work at home and in their communities on the imp... ortant issues they face, such as health care, jobs, the environment, and housing. The face of the military and the American veteran is changing. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have shown a new kind of warfare, with special needs facing the modern Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, Guardsman, and Reservist. Additionally, a flood of 21st Century troops are coming home to face the same struggles all Americans are facing today - from the tough economy, to health insurance issues, to job loss. VFF helps these veterans to: Speak out on issues of concern to 21st Century veterans via letters to the Editor, media appearances, and speaking at civic and community events; Stand with their fellow brother and sisters in the progressive community to help build a larger progressive infrastructure in their communities Become leaders in their communities both in civic and social organizations; Engage in direct and grassroots lobbying on issues and legislation of concern to the community; and, Register and turn out to vote For example, VVF is currently involved with targeted, grant-funded campaigns in around the country to promote clean energy and engage veterans and their families concerned with the national security implications of this issue. The foundation also mobilizes the veterans' community on the importance of public lands and conservation in a project titled The Land We Love campaign. Veterans meet their leaders on the local, state and federal level as well as write opinion editorials and letters to the editor in local media outlets.
