About Vermont Chevon
Vermont Chevon was formed in 2011 to add value to Vermont's dairy-goat industry by converting surplus livestock into a premium meat source. Vermont Chevon works to educate the retail, wholesale and consumer markets about goat as a healthy and flavorful meat option. The company plans to contract with existing farmers who want to diversify their production with a value-added product and become finishing farms for Vermont Chevon. These finishing farms will raise goats for meat according to the highest standards of animal health and sustainability. Feed and herd health protocols are currently in development by Vermont Chevon partners Shirley Richardson and Jan Westervelt. Vermont Chevon goats are available in the restaurants of many participating Vermont Fresh Network chefs, including at the popular Crop Bistro & Brewery in Stowe and Bluebird Tavern in Burlington.
