Senior partner, Basil Vasilakos, CPA, has over 40 years experience in public accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1970 after having worked for the NY State Tax Department. Shortly thereafter, he became a senior parnter in the firm of Gisser & Vasilakos, PC, where he did extensive work in auditing financial statements, tax audit representation, and individual and corporate income tax return preparation. Basil practiced as a sole proprietor from 1985 until 1998, specializing in the areas of construction contracting, marine contracting and the food service industries. He has also developed and programmed an accounting software package using the RPG programming language, which is still maintained and used today. . He became a certified public accountant in 1998, and in 1999 became a partner in the firm. His areas of specialty include managing attestation engagements, corporate and individual income tax compliance and preparation, payroll tax systems, estate planning and financial services, and information technology. He has previously served on the estate planning committee at the NYS Society of CPAs, community tax aid, and continues to be actively involved in the community and in private enterprise.
