About Van Baren
My name is Jeltje van Baren and I have worked in the bioinformatics field for over a decade. In June 2014 I started this consultancy company so I can provide my skills and expertise to scientists in industry and academia who do not have need for a full time bioinformatician. I have a background in molecular biology and I like to help scientists think through a problem in order to come up with the solution that best fits their needs. Of course I can run your analyses for you, but ideally I'd provide you with a setup so you can do it yourself next time. This means that I will not just install the tools you need, but help understand the options and parameters, and train you in using them. My home base is Santa Cruz, CA and I can work from my home or in your lab. You can hire me for a few hours or a few months.
