Valley Day School

Established in 1958 to provide educational programs, related services, and educational day-program placement options designed to serve school-aged students with special learning and adjustment needs, Valley Day School is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Since 1984, Valley Day School's comprehensive K-12 educational day program... has been based at a 10.4-acre suburban campus in Lower Bucks County. This location allows the company to provide program and placements for students referred by public school districts in southeastern Pennsylvania and school districts located in neighboring New Jersey. Valley Day School provides specially designed instruction for students between the ages of 4 and 21 years of age, who have been identified as seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) or Neurologically Impaired (NI) or who have been classified as autistic. Local public school districts refer students to Valley Day School for admission. The student's social and emotional ages, chronological age, and academic levels determine classroom placement. The company uses an interdisciplinary team approach, coordinating the knowledge and techniques from education, psychology, psychiatry, social work, parent/guardian, and articulating community agencies. Student-centered staffings occur on a monthly basis. The company's staff members assist each student in reaching his/her academic, social, personal, and vocational goals. Certified content area teachers work collaboratively with special education teachers to provide Valley Day School students with appropriately adapted content from the general curriculum.
