In 2002 Valerie's Gallery opened as a American-made fine craft shop and art gallery in Newburyport, Mass. We represent local and national craftspeople who are creating unique and beautiful, handmade items as well as local art. Our specialties include artisan jewelry, pottery, and paintings and original prints. In the summer of 2015, we opened a sec... ond location in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was exciting and fulfilled a "what if" question we'd always had about running two locations; we could show larger works of art and other craftspeople that are exclusive to that location. Partly because of the pandemic but also personal reasons, we closed that location in June 2020. Back to just one location in Newburyport, we have an even wider mix of unique, functional and decorative hand-crafted artful objects for yourself, your home, and gift giving -- all by American artists. One of my early memories is of going to an outdoor crafts fair with my parents. The experience of seeing potters outside under tents, showing their wares that they had made by hand lasted. Since then I have loved attending crafts fairs and visiting art galleries. I'm an amateur artist, who has taken classes and workshops in pottery, jewelry making, printmaking, and drawing. At one time, I worked at a gallery on weekends, while working full time. The time came to make a choice and I decided to take a chance and open my own shop, which has been many years now, and I love it. My love and appreciation grows all the time and I love that I'm a part of this world, and can represent so many artists. They inspire me.
