Uwe's Bakery & Deli is a German and American Style Bakery and Deli located in New Braunfels, TX. Our baked goods are made the old-world way using simple, non-GMO ingredients, free from preservatives and chemical additives, artificial colors and flavors, and unnecessary added sugars like high fructose corn syrup. Our flours are never bleached or bro... mated. Our deli menu items are made from scratch with fresh, clean ingredients, so you will never feel slow and sluggish after dining with us. Uwe Theis (pronounced Oo-vuh Tys); was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany and grew up in the small village of Muensterappel, outside of Bad Kreuznach. His family owned many different businesses, one of which is a Butcher shop and Catering service, this is where he grew to love and appreciate good food. After graduating he began my first apprenticeship as a baker in 1986 but wanted to learn the finer side of baking, so he took another apprenticeship as a pastry chef. Before the age of twenty, Uwe earned two associates degrees. After receiving his second associates degree, the company he worked for sponsored his Master degree as Master Baker and Pastry Chef. He began work in a large bakery and confiseur (confectioner), in Bad Kreuznach, responsible for Quality Control and Hygienic Control of the bakery production areas as well as 120 retail locations. He then was given the opportunity to work on special events such as food shows; working with food network Europe and food network North America. And on weekends Uwe helped his Master as a Baker doing production in his small Muensterappel bakery. In 2006 Uwe left Germany with his son to begin a fresh start in the USA, with only 4 pieces of luggage and $673.00 in their pockets, he had prearranged work at the Friesenhaus Restaurant in New Braunfels, TX, where he worked for 3 years; starting out as a baker and line cook when needed, even earning the title for 2008 Texas Best Breakfast Cook.
