About USA Foods
USAFoods was created in 1996 by Phil (Sr.) and Jeanette Bertino. After a year of having a small sandwich shop on Bourke St in Melbourne, Phil quickly realized that lots of his customers were enjoying the small range of American products he had for sale more than his sandwiches. A year later Phil and Jeanette set up a shop on Martin St, Brighton and opened USAFoods to the public. After a few years of trading in Brighton, it was time to look for a bigger space so the company could import a bigger range of products. In 1999, the store had moved to Nicholson St, Bentleigh, and in 2002 acquired the other half of the building for more storage space. In 2003 USAFoods launched usafoods.com.au, Australia's first American food store that could be accessed online. The website hosted the entire range of products and for the first time they were available to Australia nationwide.
