I understand some of you are frustrated that we are not participating in the Governments Green Homes Grant scheme at the moment. Just to let you know that, in my capacity on the Steering Group of the Green Register, we have made representations to The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (B.E.I.S) about this scheme, and how its v... ery impractical and unworkable for an SME to get Trustmark accredited via the required PAS2030 (2019) and PAS2035 route. I am very concerned that, given the extra cost to a company to employ extra staff to do all the paperwork, plus the cost of paying out to accreditation bodies and the extra training and personnel required under PAS2030/35, the £5,000 grant will not go anywhere near in full to the customer. Please rest assured we are doing our best to remedy the situation. In fact I have written to my MP, Darren Jones, and recommend you do the same to your MP. The obvious answer here in Bristol is for installers like us, who are highly trained via the Green Register, are automatically eligible for the Trustmark. The move towards more energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly buildings has come a long way in the last few decades. But nowhere near enough if we, as a nation and as individuals, are to play a full part in tackling climate change and reducing our dependency on damaging fossil fuels.
