About Urban Teachers
Urban Teachers's mission is to improve educational and life outcomes of children in urban schools by preparing culturally competent, effective career teachers who accelerate student achievement and disrupt systems of racial and socioeconomic inequity. Participants in Urban Teachers's program complete a 13-month Residency during which they learn from classroom teachers, deliver one-on-one interventions to students and lead lessons. In years two through four, Urban Teachers's novice educators are hired as full-time teachers in partner schools while they complete degree requirements and become certified in their content area. Urban Teachers has welcomed more than 2,200 aspiring educators in Baltimore, Dallas/Fort Worth and Washington, DC, since its first cohort entered classrooms in 2010. Urban Teachers is a proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network. Urban Teachers is now accepting applicants to its 2022 cohort.Explore more
