Urban Diva's Book Club

The Divas Book Club (a.k.a DBC or The Divas) was devised in June 2008 in Augusta, Georgia. The idea was formulated by avid readers Mandy Nunnery and Tiana Patterson, to bring together a diverse group of women who enjoyed reading and who would appreciate the bond of real friendships. We currently have two chapters, Augusta Georgia (DBCAUG) and New Y... ork City (DBCNYC) Our purpose is to establish a group of contemporary Divas from diverse backgrounds who enjoy reading and adult stimulating discussions. To encourage communication on today issues that may help, encourage, strengthen and empower each other. To offer a social channel that inspires and supports perpetual friendships. The Diva's hosts a monthly discussion or events during the months of January through May and September through November. The discussion or event is based on the hostess book/topic/theme of choice. Book selections are primarily chosen by our members, vendors/affiliate/sponsors or guest authors. The discussions are open to the general public on a limited basis. June is our official anniversary month, this is where we host a "lavish" anniversary party for the "Diva's" (members only) event. June also begin our "Summer Reading Series". The "Summer Reading Series" event is an open book reading encouraged event for our members and affiliates, it ends in August. In August and/or September we host a "Mix and Mingle" event, which is designed for networking among other book clubs, avid readers and authors. The two months are also our "open membership" and membership renewal periods, which is the ONLY time of the year to enter a request for membership.
