Upper Macungie Township

Upper Macungie Township Station 56 Inc is a volunteer fire department established in 2008 to serve Upper Macungie Township and surrounding communities in Pennsylvania. Headquartered at Station 56 firehouse located at 6510 Schantz Road, the organization strategically positions itself in the heart of one of the township's fastest-growing residential... areas while maintaining proximity to its dense industrial zone, enabling rapid emergency response across Upper Macungie Township and timely mutual aid to neighboring South Whitehall and Lower Macungie Townships. The station operates through a dual-structure model comprising a Fire Team responsible for emergency operations and response, and a Fire Company managing administrative functions, fundraising, and business operations. Station 56 launched with a fleet that included a GMC Attack Truck donated by Wakefern Food Corporation and a Smeal Pumper equipped with a 2,000 gallon-per-minute pump, 1,000-gallon water tank, and 50-gallon Class A foam tank. The department expanded its apparatus capabilities in 2011 with the addition of Engine 5612, a Pierce 1998 Quantum Pumper featuring a 2,000 gpm two-stage pump and comparable water and foam capacity. In 2016, Engine 5611 was outfitted with vehicle rescue tools and designated as a Rescue Engine, enhancing the station's technical rescue capabilities. The organization maintains rigorous training standards, with 100 percent of firefighters certified to Firefighter Level One.
