Upheaval Productions was founded in 2006 by media producer David Zlutnick. The organization has produced multiple documentary films and numerous short video reports, interviews, and promotional media with a sharp edge focusing on socially relevant issues. We are committed to using film as a means of documenting and engaging with important contempor... ary socio-political affairs and struggles for social change. Believing there need to be strong, independent voices in media, Upheaval Productions is dedicated to producing material that covers underrepresented and/or misrepresented issues. Our aim is to use the dynamism of video to educate, activate, and mobilize. David Zlutnick is the founder and primary video producer of Upheaval Productions. He is a California native, growing up in San Francisco and Santa Barbara, and graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2006 with a degree in Politics and International Relations. He has a strong history within independent media, both written and visual. His work has been featured in a variety of media outlets including Al Jazeera, The Guardian, USA TODAY, Democracy Now!, Colorlines.com, Alternet, Dollars and Sense, Truthout, and CounterPunch among many others. A founding member of the documentary production collective Media Insurgente, David worked to produce multiple films through the organization that were shown widely both within the United States and internationally.
