University Laboratory School

ULS offers a variety of sports where students' interests are high to complement its academic curriculum. The program's main objective is to develop the well-rounded student: academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We strive to make the programs fun for the student athletes and at the same time teach the principles of competition, sport... smanship, and cooperative fair play. We believe that athletics teach positive values, self-confidence, and respect for others. We also believe that doing your best and expressing good sportsmanship supercede winning. Athletics at the University Laboratory School are an integral part of the total educational program. They provide our students with the opportunity to participate in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and to develop teamwork, dedication, respect, and cooperation. ULS athletics should provide our staff, students, alumni, and community an identity that promotes loyalty and pride in the school. The University Laboratory School has been a member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) since 1959. Students interested in participating on an athletic team can try out for either a ULS or Pac-Five team, beginning in grade 7. The Laboratory School offers three levels of sports to participate in: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Intermediate. The Pac-Five program was organized and admitted into the ILH in 1973. Its purpose was to give students from the smaller member schools a chance to participate in a wider variety of sports.
