Union Paysanne

The Farmers' Union represents farmers in Quebec and brings together all those who advocate for food sovereignties adapted to territories. To do this, it carries out various representations with elected officials and the community in general. Since it is important to democratize issues related to agriculture and food, the Farmers' Union ensures a me... dia presence to make another point of view heard and participates in many conferences, round tables and consultations. Furthermore, it supports and undertakes political initiatives such as petitions, demonstrations and submission of briefs to various levels of government. The Farmers' Union is the only Quebec organization member of La Via Campesina, an international movement bringing together more than 300 million farmers in the world! Let us recall that peasant agriculture is the agricultural component of a larger societal project, which we wish to be democratic, egalitarian and respectful of the environment and living things. This project concerns not only agricultural policies, but also food policies, capable of structuring demand for products from peasant agriculture.
