UMI was founded in 1973 with the publication of the first edition of the ACC Basketball Handbook, which continues to this day. Over the years, we've published major college football and basketball championship yearbooks for such teams as Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Nebraska, Florida State, NC State, Miami and Washington. 1986 saw the introdu... ction of the Official NASCAR Preview and Press Guide. This preseason magazine was an instant hit with race fans, providing stats, track info, schedules, team updates and more. The Press Guide now includes coverage of every NASCAR series. This timely guide to the upcoming season is a NASCAR fan's bible. In 1988 UMI began publishing the NASCAR Winston Cup Yearbook, a complete record of the NASCAR Winston Cup season. These collectable books were such a success that in 1993 we began filling in the gaps by publishing back issues from previous years, beginning with the 1985 book -- an instant success.
