Translated the TBConnect app for Praekelt.org into isiZulu, Setswana, Afrikaans and isiXhosa in time for the launch on World TB day on the 24th of March. The fifth and final NIDS-CRAM Survey has been translated in all 10 Official South African Languages! President Cyril Ramaphosa mentioned the immense contribution the NIDS-CRAM Survey has had in de... cision making during his annual State of The Nation Address on the 11th of February. Uliza has been responsible for the translation and updates of the survey. Herewith an extract of Pres. Ramaphosas speech: The economy is already showing signs of a strong recovery. Just yesterday, we received new results from the third wave of the NIDS-CRAM survey. A collaboration among several South African universities, this is a nationally representative study which has been tracking the impact on households since early in the pandemic. This data shows that by October last year, total employment had recovered to almost reach the level seen in February, just before the pandemic. While we await the release of new data from Stats SA, these findings are a remarkable early signal of a robust and resilient labour market recovery. Research like this has helped to inform our response to the pandemic from the beginning, and will continue to inform our choices as we guide our economy towards recovery. More broadly, our experience of the impact of the pandemic has shown the importance of the economic empowerment of women. By improving the economic position of South Africas women we can reduce inequality, levels of child hunger and poverty. Weve completed a total of 74 translation tasks for one client in 2016 into many different languages from across the globe. We translated the Mothers2Mothers app into 27 languages on behalf of Praekelt.org ! We processed +- 4.05 million words! Weve added more languages to the Ayoba app , translating the monthly updates into 22 languages!
