We are an organization of workers joined together for a common purpose, for mutual aid and protection, to engage in concerted activity and collective bargaining, to elevate the conditions of life and labor; an organization by which ordinary people do extraordinary things. With approximately 650 local members, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 73 has be... en chartered with the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters of the United States and Canada for over 100 years, a united organization of over 350,000 men and women strong. Our jurisdiction covers 300 square miles and encompasses Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties as well as large portions of Cayuga and Lewis counties. We are affiliated with the AFL-CIO, the Oswego County, St. Lawrence Valley and the Finger Lakes Building Trades Councils. Funded by the membership, the Local's training and certification program is second to none. Our training is rigorous. Carried out by instructors who have all completed a 5 year teacher certification program instituted by the United Association's training department, Eastern Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College. We are hard working, dependable, skilled craftspeople who make a living working in a variety of settings from single family homes, hospitals, schools, office buildings, airports, shopping centers, manufacturing, food processing and utility plants, fabrication shops, apartments and commercial establishments, doing new construction and maintenance, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and plumbing service work.
