Turning Point Associates was founded in 2001 by our current President, Ada OConnor. We are a family-owned and operated business based out of Southern New Jersey. We provide retirement plan administration & recordkeeping services for businesses of all sizes. In 2001, Ada OConnor began Turning Point Associates (TPA) in the small town of Swedesboro, N... J, which is located about 30 miles south of Philadelphia in southern New Jersey. Ada was motivated to begin her own business after working for over 20 years for an in-house retirement plan administration operation for a large association, a client who we continue to work with until this day. In 2001 when TPA was started, daily valued record keeping software was becoming more available to smaller firms like TPA and this afforded the opportunity for a smaller family firm like TPA to enter a field dominated by large providers. From the nature of its origins, TPA considers itself to be a more service-oriented option versus some of the larger big box providers in the market. TPA is not only the easiest way to refer to us, but also coincidentally is a retirement industry acronym that is known to mean Third Party Administration. However, this term is often understood to apply to firms that only perform certain limited functions for a retirement plan, such as plan testing and plan distribution assistance. A TPA firm often works with a larger recordkeeper company that actually keeps track of the individual participant account values, investments, transactions, etc. Turning Point Associates is not only a TPA firm, but we also provide record keeping services, so these services can be consolidated in to one firm.
